Admission Counselor
Job Description
Capital University is seeking an Admission Counselor to build relationships and counsel prospective students on the college selection and financial aid process. This position is responsible for managing prospective students and families for specified geographic areas. The Admission Counselor actively recruits through relationship building with prospective families, high school counselors, and community organizations. In addition, this role involves evaluating applications, significant individual and group presentations, and will require travel.
Responsibilities:
Communication/Communication Planning Develops emails, texts, and other written content; makes phone calls in efforts to engage students and families in the admission process. Counsels students and families regarding the college search and selection process, academic programs, and financial aid and enrollment process. Territory Management Manages inquiries and applications with an interest in various academic areas. Plans and implements recruitment activities for assigned territory, travels to sites both within Ohio and nationally. Travels to high schools, college fairs, and other venues to promote the university to prospective students and families. Presentations Develops presentations that highlight the benefits and value of a Capital education, encourages students to enroll, and relay critical insights/information to internal/external stakeholders in a variety of formats - from individual and small group settings to large assemblies. Reviews institutional, state, and national data and reporting for analysis, strategy, planning, and research purposes. Data/Market Analysis Responsible for evaluating admission applications and providing decisions based on a holistic evaluation, informed by enrollment policy for assigned recruitment territory. Develops reports to document, track, and assess recruitment, application, and yield strategy effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required; experience in higher education or enrollment preferred. Experience in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn Slate, Colleague, and other programs as needed. Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service. Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends. Motor vehicle license required.
