Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. Job Purpose: This Electrical Engineering Specialist - Battery NTI role is within the growing battery component and system NTI team in Electrification and Energy Solutions (E+ES). The selected candidate will be responsible for developing the battery system electrical architecture, electrical components, and electrical integration for a wide range of Caterpillar products. The selected candidate will also function as an electrical team leader to ensure design activities and priorities are aligned to deliver on the team’s commitments as a whole. Job Duties:
Develop high-quality electronic/electrical components for battery modules and systems that meet complex requirements with high quality and cost-effective designs. Partner with a wide variety of suppliers to facilitate concept evaluation in a pre-production environment. Troubleshoot electronic/electrical components in battery modules and systems when issues arise. Develop product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout development, and component verification and validation. Collaborate effectively with a variety of teams to understand the application requirements and performance needs. Expected to provide technical leadership and training as well as mentorship to new and less experienced staff members. Keep up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs via continuous learning through self/internet study.
What you have:
Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical. Technical Excellence: Experience in electronic component selection and integration is essential. Experience in battery systems, battery management systems hardware, or drivetrain systems for a range of electrified architectures is desired. Analytical Thinking: Excellent analytical skills and understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications. Demonstrated ability to analyze independently is desired. Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Effective Communications: Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as in other units, customers, and suppliers. Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Experience with flexible and/or rigid printed circuit board schematic and layout design, ideally Altium Designer. Product Development Life Cycle: Experience throughout the design and development process of new concept electrical or electronic components is desired. Experience with software controls design or development is also beneficial. Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing. Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment. This position is located in Mossville, IL. 10% travel likely. Domestic relocation is available. Sponsorship is not available.
Summary Pay Range: $123,480.00 - $185,280.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
