Employment Status: Full-time, Non-exempt Department: Property Management Reports To: Chief Engineer Salary: $41.57/hour Summary The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, the City of New York. BNYDC strives to provide an environment in which innovative companies can take root and grow. We are seeking an Electrician to join our team to install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures throughout our facilities. Areas of Responsibility
Plans layouts, installs and repairs wiring and control equipment following diagrams, blueprints or oral instructions Installs control and distribution components (switches, relays and circuit breaker panels) Repairs and maintains equipment such as generators, alternators, motors, lighting fixtures, etc. Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads Tests to ensure electrical continuity and safety components using ohmmeters and oscilloscopes Detects hazards or other issues such as need for adjustment, relocation or replacement Measure, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduits; pulls wiring through conduit Splices and solders wires Uses hand and power tools Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Vocational or trade school training required 5+ years related work experience required Valid driver’s license required Knowledge of building electrical codes required BNYDC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
