Summary of Position Functions The Project Developer will be responsible for energy audits, designing energy conservation measures, calculating energy savings, bidding and negotiating subcontractor costs, supporting sales, and assisting in the construction of energy conservation projects. The role ensures projects meet budgets, timelines, legal standards, and specifications. Essential Position Functions Perform or supervise energy audits, modeling, measurement, verification, or retro-commissioning studies. Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff. Present to various audiences. Lead energy-related design or construction issues, including engineering and sustainable design. Analyze and interpret energy data using engineering software. Attend technical meetings and design reviews. Communicate project expectations clearly and timely. Advise clients and colleagues on climate control, energy modeling, and auditing. Review architecture, mechanical, or electrical plans for energy efficiency. Maintain effective communication with clients, third parties, and colleagues. Prepare energy project reports and technical documentation per standards. Research new renewable and alternative energy technologies. Support sales teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Assist in securing funding and procurement paths. Track project activities and ensure deadlines are met. Conduct preliminary site walks to identify EEMs and tailor solutions. Provide technical expertise during sales presentations. Coordinate with customer representatives and utilities for data collection and feasibility analysis. Innovate to improve the development process through communication and stakeholder engagement. Participate in industry events and customer interactions. Note: This list is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned as needed. Non-Essential Position Functions Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None at this time. Education and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, Management, Architecture, or related fields, or equivalent experience. Experience with measures in government sectors like water, wastewater, street lighting. At least 2 years in project development; more for senior roles. Desired: 2 years in Energy Engineering. Proficiency with MS Project, Microsoft Office, RS Means, and other standard software. Proven ability to manage budgets and work effectively with subcontractors and A/E teams, verified by references. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Quickly assess project feasibility based on energy savings and customer needs. Excellent customer-facing and technical skills. Effective communication and project guidance skills. Leadership in estimating projects from start to finish. Independent work ethic, organized, and capable of managing changing priorities. Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes. Common sense application and ability to meet deadlines, including extra hours if needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Professional Engineering (PE) License in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred. Travel Requirement Based in Oakland, CA, or Northern California, with approximately 20% travel within California.
