Mechanical Estimator
Job Description
Barton Malow Company is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator in our Preconstruction department. This position can be remote and will support projects in Ohio, Tennessee, Florida, and North Carolina. Candidates can either be established and experienced mechanical estimators or engineers with at least 2-5 years of facility design and/or experience who are willing to develop as mechanical engineers/estimators. This individual will gain both office and jobsite experience to help them become proficient in performing plumbing system piping design and estimating, HVAC ductwork and HVAC pipe sizing and take off, air systems sizing and estimating, heating and cooling generation equipment sizing and estimating, temperature controls understanding and estimating, and fire protection systems for large industrial, commercial, and institutional construction projects.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform the above systems take-off and pricing. Provide general support to Barton Malow’s field operations by reviewing field change orders and assisting in answering contractors’ requests for information. Support the preconstruction team in the bidding process for different procurement methods including: general contracts, design-build, and construction management. Provide technical support for resolution and tracking of project issues.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Individuals without an engineering degree are also encouraged to apply for this position if through their experience and training they can work on design/build projects and generate estimates at a conceptual level. Minimum of 2-4 years of construction and design experience. Prior working knowledge and proficiency in Excel, Winest, WebLEM, and Autobid is a plus. Prior knowledge of Microsoft programs is essential; “on screen” take off and Revit modeling is a plus.
