JOB SUMMARY The Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing all incoming shipments and ensuring their accurate and timely receipt into the facility. This role involves leading a small team, managing the receiving process from end-to-end, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to motivate and guide their team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Incoming Shipments Management:
Coordinate the unloading, verification, and inspection of all incoming shipments to ensure product accuracy and quality. Verify packing lists, purchase orders, and bills of lading to confirm correct quantities and item specifications. Work closely with the purchasing and inventory teams to resolve discrepancies or damaged goods promptly.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Lead, train, and mentor a team of 1–5 warehouse associates in daily receiving tasks. Assign and schedule workloads, ensuring resources are efficiently allocated. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages high performance and continuous improvement. Communicate between the Customer Success team and warehouse operations regarding receiving area activities.
Process Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date receiving documentation, including system entries, delivery records, and discrepancy reports. Ensure team compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures. Collaborate with other warehouse teams to maintain accurate stock counts and product integrity.
KPI Achievement & Continuous Improvement:
Monitor and report on KPIs such as on-time receipts, inventory accuracy, and cycle times to the Operations Manager. Identify inefficiencies in the receiving process and propose, implement, and track improvement initiatives. Take proactive steps to streamline operations, reduce errors, and improve overall receiving efficiency.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance:
Ensure receiving tools, machinery, and equipment are well-maintained and operated safely and efficiently. Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or higher in logistics, business, or a related field is a plus. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a warehouse shipping/receiving role, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory position. Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software, preferably Deposco. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; bilingual Spanish/English is preferred. Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in varying warehouse conditions. Forklift certification is a plus.
