Job Description
Job Overview Hubbell's Connectors Business Unit in Leeds, AL is seeking a Sr. Associate Design Engineer to join our growing team! This role focuses on Medium/High Voltage connectors and fiber optic products/accessories. The successful candidate will lead and participate in new product development for distribution, substation, transmission, and communication market products, as well as oversee the commercialization process from idea to product launch. Manage New Product Development projects related to Medium/High Voltage and Communications market connectors. Design products and components using 3D modeling software. Input and track parts required for design, generating a BOM with cost estimates. Collaborate with marketing to incorporate customer feedback into product development. Create and evaluate new product design concepts following ANSI, IEC, IEEE, and Telcordia standards. Conduct design for manufacturability assessments. Coordinate experiments to test and verify product designs. Track progress and action items for ongoing projects. Participate in Kaizen improvement events. Prepare and present capital expenditure requests to management. Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product improvements. Attend seminars and conferences to stay updated on connector technology.
What will help you thrive in this role?
At least 3 years of engineering experience in part/product design. Proficiency in FEA, Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modeling tools, and rapid prototyping. Experience in testing and product development. Knowledge of DFMA principles. Strong mechanical design skills using the strength of materials. Hands-on experience with tools and test lab equipment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with injection molded parts and tool design is a plus.
