Prepares and serves children snacks; assists in leading activities and maintains the cleanliness of the program areas. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); prepares and processes supply orders; maintains the after-school program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability necessities of the programs. Key responsibilities: Provides constant care of the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner. Institutes and follows lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities. Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children’s safety in utilizing the same. Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities. Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides a positive relaxed atmosphere during children’s mealtime encouraging conversation. Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques. Maintains the after-school program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for any laundry, money, and supplies necessary for programs. Cleans kitchen, classrooms, table, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards. Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of children participating in program activities; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner initiating the accident report. Assists with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times. What we are looking for in you: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND Two (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church, OR Any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid Driver’s License Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a classroom, gym, and outdoor settings. Sitting, walking, and standing are required. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs) 5-10% of work time. Working Conditions: Work requires working indoors and outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
