JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist
SUMMARY:
To provide students with Speech and Language services to prevent, remediate and evaluate speech, voice / fluency, language, hearing, communication and related disorders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Michigan Speech Language Pathologist License CCC’s or CFY’s
Experience in evaluation and therapy of children with disabilities preferred
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, intervention and follow-up services for disorders of speech, language and RTI
Provide training and support to teachers, other professionals and family members of individuals with speech, voice and language communication fluency
Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel and community representatives
Maintain accurate and timely records
Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth
Manage a safe and comfortable learning environment
Prepare for and participate in the REED/IEP process
Inform building administrators of student's progress and programmatic concerns
Comply with school district policies and procedures
Effectively participate in meetings, committees, and other required district and building activities in a positive manner
Effectively plan and organize duties as well as personal work environment
Comply with Medicaid billing procedures
Regular and predictable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned by Administrators
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Demonstrated competencies in the areas of interpersonal relationships, communication and organization
Demonstrated proficiency with appropriate district technology (eg. Email, google calendar, saving reports to shared drive)
Knowledge and utilization of resources for students within the community and school environments
Demonstrate knowledge of State and Federal regulations, and other legal aspects of speech and language guidelines
Knowledge of special education programming and of appropriate approach, methodology, and techniques for delivering speech therapy in school settings
Ability to gather and assess outcomes program evaluation data and to use to modify services at the programmatic level
Ability to maintain current reporting, documentation, scheduling, and billing in accordance with professional standards, state and local guidelines, and reimbursement requirements
Ability to interpret the evaluation data and write a comprehensive report that reflects strengths and barriers to the child's participation
Ability to participate collaboratively with multi-disciplinary educational teams to develop Individualized Education Programs to meet the child's needs
Ability to handle behavior, adapt and modify environments, equipment and materials

EVALUATION:
The Special Education Director will evaluate performance
SALARY:
Salary based on education and experience pursuant to the (St. Joseph Public Schools Board policies) and the collective bargaining agreement.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including but not limited to lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling/stooping/crouching/reaching/handling.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
The employee may need to travel while on the job to reach different locations.
