The Bridge Staff Engineer will assist in bridge inspections, structural design calculations, and drafting tasks using tools like MicroStation. This role involves working closely with licensed engineers, preparing reports, and contributing to the development of structural alternatives. As a Bridge Staff Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of engineers, maintaining effective communication within the team and with clients. This is a developmental role where you will receive training to progress as a Bridge Engineer, under the mentorship of a Senior Structural Engineer. Key Accountabilities
Conduct field inspections to assess structural conditions and explore repair solutions. Aid in preparing material quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bidding documents. Assist in structural engineering computations, surveys, and designs, supervised by a licensed engineer. Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD for engineering drawings. Help compile project contract documents, technical specifications, design calculations, and other construction documents. Review as-built drawings for existing structures to support field inspections. Ensure adherence to safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and use equipment correctly. Complete project tasks within scope, budget, and schedule. Undertake any other duties relevant to the position.
Qualifications
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or related fields from an ABET accredited institution. Possess an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain it within 1 year of hire. Preferably have entry-level experience in bridge inspection or design. Basic familiarity with common bridge design practices. Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications. Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license.
