Bid Coordinator – Solutions/Large Projects
Position Overview – The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit located near Raleigh, NC is growing steadily. It is seeking highly qualified and energetic Engineers for the Solutions team. The Bid Coordinator will play a significant role in business generation of EA Business Unit by coordinating approvals for comprehensive technical and commercial proposals and solutions for Data Center, Semiconductor, Industrial and Construction verticals that best fit our customer needs, while ensuring competitive pricing. The Bid Coordinator will work closely with Siemens Solutions Application Engineers, Siemens Sales, and colleagues at Siemens Headquarters to obtain approvals for offers supporting customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on contractual and commercial issues. The Bid Coordinator will be required to travel to the office location on an as-needed basis to attend trainings, workshops, events and special meetings. We are looking for a Bid Coordinator – Solutions/Large Projects. This position will be based at Wendell, NC.
Responsibilities – Monitor quotation portal frequently for new proposal opportunities and check that opportunity has sufficient information to assign to the Application Engineering team to start the proposal process Communicate any missing information for proposal preparation to Sales and Business Development teams so proposals can be assigned to an Application Engineer Review of Customer specifications, commercial/technical documents, product requirements to determine scope of supply. Generate rough order of magnitude budgetary quotations to determine complexity and time needed to complete a proposal. Assign opportunities to Application Engineers within the Business Unit to generate technical solutions for the Siemens suite of products. Communicate quote deadlines to Siemens Sales and Business Development teams, track progress, and notify stakeholders accordingly. Identify approval levels required for an opportunity and create schedule for completion. Invite all key stakeholders in the project to review meetings in the process of obtaining required approvals based on scope of supply, commercial terms, and project value. Coordinate activities with colleagues at Siemens Headquarters for large project approvals. Assist Siemens Application Engineers with completing the required documentation for approvals. Ensure project team members are informed of upcoming opportunity reviews including Legal, Project Management, Finance, and Quality teams. Submit pertinent information to Senior Management for review. Present project overview to Senior Management for approval. Track offer team KPIs and hold monthly meetings to review performance
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience – Bachelor’s degree in engineering 10+ years of engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial corporate environment. Experience with the design and application of medium voltage electrical distribution products and power systems/ power delivery. Knowledge of (and experience evaluating) relay P&C schemes, schematics, communication network diagrams. Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution applications. Experience analyzing customer’s technical documentation to interpret and apply appropriate Siemens product offerings to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner, offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs. Financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes. Experience with Electrical and 2D Layout drawing tools such as AutoCad, Visio, etc. Travel Required – Less than 10%.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience – Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service. Excellent communications skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to identify market trends and using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to create and justify projects to close the identified gaps. Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and product configuration/pricing applications. Experience with the integration of medium voltage electrical distribution products and power systems/ power delivery within E Houses/Buildings. Familiarity with IBC, NEC and NFPA codes and standards for E Houses/Buildings and their best practices. Master’s degree is a plus. Proficient in the design and application of electrical distribution products. Knowledge of their integration within E Houses/Buildings is a plus. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management Tools such as Salesforce.com.
