PACCAR Engine Company's $400 million engine manufacturing and technology facility is located in Columbus, Mississippi. The engines produced at the Mississippi plant are PACCAR Engine Company's most fuel-efficient and highest-technology diesel engines. Requisition Summary Quality Co-Op/Intern Job Functions / Responsibilities Work closely with machining and assembly department personnel and provide engineering support with timely responses to problems being worked. Identify root cause for problems that occur during the engine manufacturing process and work with appropriate organizational departments and/or suppliers to implement permanent corrective actions. Assist with machining or assembly department corrective actions related to daily PQI and internal campaign issues. Complete and analyze data and identify trends and facilitate improvement actions. Interact with team members to implement solutions. Maintain a problem-solving database which tracks problem resolution. Utilize effective communication and problem-solving skills to foster an effective team environment which continually strives for improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. Develop and implement quality-engineered systems for new processes/products and transfer products. Provide assessments and advice on the robustness of Quality System implementation. Develop SPC and Training plans in support of new product launches.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in a Quality Engineering role with other functional groups, provide support of new process/product and transfer products. Provide QA Engineer(s) direction, analysis, and recommendations to assure effective quality control and associated risk management plans. Write, review and/or approve process and product validation protocols and reports, equipment qualifications, engineering change orders. Provide technical leadership for Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans for both Process and Design FMEAs. Support Complaint investigations as appropriate. Own the FMEA process. Assure proper use of statistical tools to analyze data, make acceptance decisions, and improve process capability (DOE, SPC) throughout the organization. Ensure that development activities follow control requirements and the product is properly transferred to manufacturing. Assure all control plans meet necessary requirements to ensure effective product acceptance including appropriate inspection requirements, equipment and gauge requirements, and sampling plans. Initiate and investigate Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) as appropriate. Assure process audit program established and implemented. Lead Continuous improvement activities and support Lean environment and re-work/scrap reduction. Assist in development, review and approval of process and equipment validation.
Qualifications & Skills
The candidate we seek will be currently enrolled in an Engineering Program and have completed their Sophomore year of College. Excellent technical, verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proven problem-solving skills are required. Ability to work in a self-directed environment is preferred. Must be flexible to work portions of day and evening shifts. Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Preference will be given to the candidate who can work 40 hours/week. MS Office, specifically Excel spreadsheets. A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferable.
