THE OPPORTUNITY This position performs instrument, control and electrical maintenance functions to ensure safe, environmentally compliant operation of a combined-cycle power plant. Employees provide technical and analytical services essential to the control systems and associated equipment (electronic, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic) and electrical maintenance (LV/MV/HV) and associated equipment.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems. Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment. Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals and records. Inspect, repair, install and remove motors, generators, transformers, and control equipment. Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and MK VIe turbine control equipment. Perform routine instrument calibrations. Complete other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager. Work safely, following company policies and procedures. Use installed and portable test equipment to troubleshoot equipment and systems. Coordinate job activities relating to job planning and reporting. Perform both routine and non-routine preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment. Be “on call” while off shift to support emergency repair or monitoring. Assist other plant personnel as needed. Prepare, maintain and provide a variety of reports/documents as required. Review P&ID Drawings and electrical diagrams. Communicate condition of plant systems and equipment to others. Monitor and perform required periodic preventive maintenance and updates. Complete detailed planning and time estimates for repairs and installations. Operate all plant mobile equipment, forklift, man lift, etc. Assist in performing preventative and minor corrective maintenance on engines and associated equipment. Must be available for night, overtime, weekend, and holiday work as required. May be required to support job responsibilities outside of scheduled work hours. Occasional travel may be required. Other duties as assigned.
THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 3 years of power plant and/or gas/steam turbine experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics. Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Experience with Emerson - Ovation and CMMS systems desired. Valid U.S. Driver license with acceptable MVR history.
THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to accomplish physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Will use vision abilities to focus and see short and long distances. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
