Job Description Summary: Conducts independent research within a general area in conjunction with a Principal Investigator (PI). Manages basic and complex projects ensuring timelines, deliverables, and expectations are met. Job Description:
Essential Functions:
Manage mouse colonies, including breeding, weaning, genotyping, euthanasia, and coordinating animal purchases and shipments, ensuring meticulous record-keeping. Independently perform experiments in accordance with established protocols, which may involve laboratory animals or human lung tissue. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required. Process human lung tissue, maintain cell and tissue cultures, and collect samples such as cells and bronchoalveolar lavage as needed. Ensure precision and accuracy in experimental procedures across various research projects. Maintain accurate daily logs of experiments and drug usage, including documentation of challenges encountered during studies. Analyze data using appropriate statistical methods and prepare reports that include visual representations of the results. Assist in writing and preparing scientific publications and grant proposals. Order supplies, maintain equipment, and manage the laboratory's inventory, ensuring all research equipment is in working condition. Contribute to the preparation of research budgets and ensure studies are conducted within budgetary limits. Provide training and guidance to other lab personnel and students in research methodologies, techniques, and equipment use. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, adhering to safety protocols.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in biological or related science with at least two years of experience handling laboratory mice. Experience in cell culture is strongly preferred. Coursework or experience in areas such as anatomy, genetics, physiology, and statistical research methods, especially related to lung research, is desirable. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Skills:
Must be able to use research methods in generating and collecting data and analyzing the data for report preparation. Must be able to develop complex position papers and reports, and help in preparation of research grant proposals and scientific publications. Must be computer literate.
Experience: Two years of relevant research experience or Master's Degree, required.
