Data Center Technician L2
Job Description
Swing Shift Monday - Thursday 3pm - 2am MDT As an intermediate Data Center Lab Technician L2, you will be working in a Data Center on a team of Data Center Lab Technicians and Leads in collaboration with remote-adjacent sysadmin teams. You will work onsite Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 2:00am (MST) supporting server builds to spec, rack and stack, as well as maintenance and repair (break/fix). You will also provide remote hands support for networking equipment and cabling. As an intermediate Data Center Lab Technician L2, you are expected to possess superior knowledge and experience working in Data Centers, with Servers and related knowledge. Requirements
Support a large fleet of servers and data centers for a prominent customer Apply an intermediate approach to diagnostic methods to troubleshoot data center equipment including servers, network switches, and peripheral devices Apply an intermediate approach to server repair methods Understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) in the execution of day-to-day work Perform thorough documentation using the prescribed service ticket management system and related OEM Supply Chain portals Perform in-depth repair on servers (replace hard drives, memory modules, power supply, motherboards, backplanes, etc.) and other data center equipment independently Order, receive, and pull required parts or components accurately as specified in the SOP/WI Assist in the physical moving of racks and equipment as directed for special projects Update inventory information as specified in the process and directives Ensure compliance with the identified process to maintain an organized and tidy work environment Follow the ‘5S Pillars’ methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) for organizing, cleaning, developing, and sustaining a productive work environment Ensure compliance with e-waste storage and disposal standards within the data center Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards within the data center Ensure compliance with administrative directives Perform other tasks as directed by management
Required Skills and Experience
Hands-on computer/server hardware break-fix experience in a data center environment Ability to read and execute a server build plan Intermediate knowledge of computer applications Exposure to service management or ticketing system Effective communication and listening skills, written and verbal fluency in English Excellent customer service mindset willing to meet and exceed customer expectations Self-motivated, professional, and high level of attention to detail Able to work independently and a proactive team player Able to work well in isolation and on repetitive tasks Ability to learn new skills quickly Agile mindset capable of multitasking with a high level of attention to detail Able to mentor and train peers Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
Preferred Qualifications
College degree or equivalent in a technology-related field a plus 2+ years of experience working in a data center environment 2+ years of experience working in a supply chain logistics environment Previous ticket system exposure Knowledge of computer applications preferably with Slack, Teams, Jira, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Products #J-18808-Ljbffr
