Job Description
Total Number of Openings Chevron Renewable Energy Group is accepting online applications for the position of I&E Technician located near Newton, Iowa through January 31st, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, electrical (both low and medium voltage), and control systems within a biodiesel facility. Works with contractors to maintain and upgrade the plant. This position is also responsible for ensuring the plant is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Perform highly skilled installation, commissioning, inspection, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and related equipment. Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System to create work orders for inventory and work planning, and prioritization. Assess and complete performance checks on equipment such as level controllers, pressure transmitters, etc., and record and validate instrument performance. Build instrumentation and electrical panels. Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit, fittings, and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment. Install cable tray. Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures. Disconnect, connect, and rewire electrical wiring according to the NFPA 70 (NEC), 70E & 70B. Troubleshoot and maintain computer control systems such as PLC and HMI. Assure all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Minimum 2-year technical associates degree or 3 years of relevant work experience preferred. Possesses and demonstrates working knowledge of the methods and procedures of the Instrumentation and Electrical trades and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of these fields. Instrumentation knowledge is most important. General understanding of motor controls, transformers, lighting arrestors, grounding, emergency systems, test equipment and procedures, cable terminations, heat trace, and lighting. Basic understanding of instrumentation, controls, control systems, safety systems, and electrical equipment. Must be able to read and decipher electrical and control drawings. Must be able to get online with PLC and use it as a troubleshooting tool. Must understand the principles of flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurement. Basic computer skills for ordering materials, communication, entering equipment history, and email. Ability to work overtime and on-call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
ISA CCST certification preferred but not required. Must view safety as a value and be willing to always comply with company policies and guidelines. Must be able to work as part of a team, willing to be mentored and trained, and be trustworthy and dependable. Good verbal and written communication skills.

This will resubmit your previous results. Chevron's tests are focused on industrial aptitudes. However, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test preparation guides may be helpful in preparation for these tests. Candidates should focus on mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension, understanding information in tables and graphs, and understanding industrial math.
