Position Summary: Associates in the Material Handler position are responsible for keeping the printing presses, laminators, slitters, and converting machines stocked with materials to produce quality flexible packaging materials on time in accordance with specific work instructions and applicable safety and quality assurance procedures. Responsibilities and Duties:
Check all tools and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure good housekeeping is maintained. Assume ownership of the warehouse area by removing clutter and maintaining material inventory accuracy. Perform daily forklift inspections and document findings. Operate forklifts and other equipment safely. Ensure all machines are stocked with materials to minimize downtime. Label and document all material movements accurately. Wrap, band, label, and secure materials for safe movement. Assist with monthly physical inventory. Adhere to company and quality procedures. Support teamwork and cooperation by performing other duties as assigned. Participate in improvement initiatives.
Performance Requirements:
Adhere to PPC's Safety Culture and GMP standards. Complete 90 days from date of hire with minimal inventory accuracy errors. Achieve low instances of downtime at any asset. Adhere to PPC’s attendance policy. Complete assigned housekeeping duties.
Skills and Qualifications:
Detail-oriented for paperwork and information systems. Previous material handling experience and forklift certification preferred. Job experience in an industrial production environment preferred. Ability to read and understand production schedules. Capable of performing mathematical calculations and material inspections. Flexibility in work assignments and priorities. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and handle items up to 75 pounds. Must be capable of standing for the duration of a work shift. Must pass company forklift certification. Willingness to work in excess of a normal workweek as production demands dictate. Must have physical dexterity to perform job duties. Local travel may be required.
