Essential Job Functions Work under close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Assist with finishing of manufactured parts, including but not limited to cutting, sanding, deburring, and polishing. Utilize various grinding equipment such as flexible shaft grinders, pencil type grinders, cut-off wheels, and sanding wheels. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures. Perform basic daily maintenance or checks on equipment. Other duties as necessary. SKILLS And QUALIFICATIONS Ability to perform thorough unaided visual inspections on small parts. Working knowledge of manufacturing principles and basic shop math. High degree of manual dexterity while using grinding equipment. Ability to read and follow work orders, set up data sheets, and measurement instructions. Job Description

Res-Q-Jack, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of vehicle stabilization and lifting struts trusted by first responders in over 4,000 departments worldwide. Through product innovation and refinement over more than 25 years, Res-Q-Jack has earned a well-respected and valued name in the fire service.

We build each rescue strut by hand in our shop, from proven and predictable materials. From hand-welds to high-end machining, all of our struts are built with care and inspected and tested to ensure years of performance in the field. Our tools were born through first-hand experience in the field and have been refined to suit the needs of responders through direct communication and feedback from the responders who use them.

We are currently seeking an On-Site Shop Assistant (Floater) within our manufacturing facility located in Elmira, NY. This is a full-time position.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate equipment such as band saw, cut off saw, belt sander, drill press, disc grinder and foam press.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications

Provide general assistance around the shop

Assist with shop loading and work kit preparation

Packing and shipping

Assembly

Clean and maintain equipment as directed

Provide assistance to shop supervisors as needed

Inspect fabricated product

Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, height gauges, and micrometers

Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area

REQUIREMENTS:

Aptitude for mechanics

Exceptional attendance

Familiarity with hand tools

Exceptional hand-eye coordination

Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 70 pounds

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma required or equivalent experience in trade school certification #J-18808-Ljbffr
