POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the Service Department Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of city maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to, street, stormwater, parks, grounds/buildings, snow/ice, community events, lighting, cemetery, and other related public works/service maintenance. This position requires a willingness and ability to work in adverse weather conditions as needed and possess physical characteristics to perform important duties of the job. The successful applicant must have effective communication skills for interacting with the public and colleagues, must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, and the ability to carry out tasks independently or in a team setting. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum qualifications for this position include: a high school diploma or acceptable equivalency diploma;
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants with these additional qualifications will be preferred: public works, service, and/or maintenance experience; heavy equipment operations; CDL – Class A or B. The ability to maintain or obtain (within 24 months of employment) a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a condition of ongoing employment. COMPENSATION: Pay for this position is currently capped at $27.00 per hour. Starting pay for the qualified individual will begin at $20.00 per hour or higher, plus benefits, based on qualifications. WORK SCHEDULE: Regular 40-hour work schedule, Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Shifts may also include weekends or holidays to support community events and will require occasional, off-hour emergency call-ins when needed.
