Restoration Ecologist Technician – LTE Position

NES Ecological Services, A Division of Robert E. Lee & Associates, Inc., is an established natural resources consulting firm located in Green Bay and Stevens Point, Wisconsin that specializes in wetlands and native habitat restoration. We are currently seeking qualified technicians to assist with restoration projects throughout Wisconsin. Possessing or having the ability to obtain a Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator License will be necessary for this position. Positions will be based in Appleton, Stevens Point and Green Bay. It is preferred but not required to be working toward or have already obtained a 2 or 4 year degree in a Natural Resources related field. Applicants with relevant job-related experience are preferred but not required. The candidate must be self-motivated and organized to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner to meet our client’s needs and deadlines. A positive attitude and the ability to work as a team will allow the successful applicant to continue their professional development while building the native habitat restoration portion of NES. Chosen applicants can expect to work entirely in the field. Work will be performed in a variety of weather conditions that can be challenging at times. Some overnight travel for up to a week at a time, extended work hours and some weekend work will be required; and, applicants must be able to adapt to schedule changes upon short notice. Primary work tasks involve invasive species control via herbicide applications, cutting, hauling, mulching, fencing, shoveling, mowing, planting, seeding and plant identification. Chosen applicants must be able to safely and effectively apply herbicide. They will also be expected to load, operate, clean and maintain equipment such as herbicide sprayers, GPS units, ATVs, tractors, chainsaws, brushsaws and handtools. Daily worklogs will need to be accurately completed. Applicants will also be expected to read and navigate using a map. It is necessary to be in good physical condition and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Applicants must also possess a valid driver’s license and be capable of loading and driving trucks with trailers. On-site training for all the above tasks will be provided to ensure safety protocols are followed. This is a Limited Term Employment position with an anticipated start date in late April/early May and ending in late October/early November 2024. Hours worked per week will vary depending on weather and workload, but an average of 40 hours with occasional overtime is anticipated. The rate of pay is $16.00 – $20.00 per hour based on knowledge and experience. No benefits are included with this position. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
