Job Overview The Licensing Coordinator for Product Licensing will manage and facilitate all aspects of product licensing agreements, ensuring legal compliance, contract management, and support for wholesale operations. This role requires diligence, the ability to develop a strong understanding of intellectual property (IP) licensing, legal documentation, and the nuances of product distribution in a wholesale environment. A background in product licensing and wholesale management is critical to ensuring contracts are handled efficiently and that licensing processes run smoothly, and former experience in a legal environment, while not required, would be greatly desirable. Key Responsibilities Product Licensing Management: Coordinate the application, renewal, and termination of product licensing agreements with external partners, licensors, and licensees. Maintain up-to-date records of all product licenses, ensuring timely renewals, adherence to contract terms, and regulatory compliance. Support the development of new licensing opportunities, collaborating with internal teams to negotiate and finalize product licensing deals. Contract and Agreement Support: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating product licensing agreements, ensuring all terms align with business objectives and legal requirements. Collaborate with the legal team to interpret contract clauses, resolve legal issues, and ensure proper documentation for product licensing agreements. Conduct research on licensing restrictions, intellectual property laws, and product compliance to provide guidance to internal teams. Wholesale and Distribution Coordination: Support wholesale teams in managing product distribution agreements that involve licensed products. Ensure that product licenses comply with wholesale operations, including distribution rights, territory exclusivity, pricing agreements, and marketing usage. Monitor wholesale and licensing agreements to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including royalty payments, sales reporting, and performance benchmarks. Regulatory Compliance and IP Protection: Maintain a basic working understanding of IP law and product licensing regulations to ensure compliance with domestic and international standards. Assist with trademark and copyright registration processes related to licensed products, working closely with the legal team. Coordinate and act as the point person on licensing audits or disputes, providing necessary documentation and representing the company in discussions with licensors or regulatory bodies. Work with sales, marketing, product development, and legal teams to ensure proper execution of licensing agreements, including branding guidelines and product approvals. Act as a liaison between licensors and the company, ensuring communication of licensing terms, obligations, and deadlines across departments. Support marketing teams in ensuring that promotional materials and product packaging meet the requirements of licensing agreements.
Ideal Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, Intellectual Property, or related field (certification as a paralegal is a big plus, but by no means required). 2+years' experience in product licensing, contract management, or paralegal work, preferably in wholesale or distribution sectors. Strong understanding or ability to develop a strong understanding of product licensing, intellectual property laws, and contract negotiation. Experience with wholesale operations, including knowledge of distribution agreements for licensed products. Experience with royalty management, sales reporting, and compliance monitoring for licensed products. Knowledge of global IP and licensing regulations. Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with legal professionals, licensors, and business stakeholders.
