Duties and Responsibilities Primary Job Functions: Room patients in clinic for up to 4 doctors. Medical assistants keep the medical office running efficiently and take on many tasks, including ordering, sorting, storing supplies, and restocking exam rooms. Responsibilities may include cleaning exam areas, setting up instruments and equipment, greeting patients, answering office phones, performing data entry, scheduling appointments, assisting front office staff, and conducting manual insurance verifications, along with any other duties determined appropriate by management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares patients for examination by taking vitals and recording medical history into Epic. Escorts patients to and from exam rooms. Complies with OSHA and HIPAA regulations. Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with surgical centers, verifying times with patients, and preparing charts, pre-admission, and consent forms. Assists the physician with procedures. Administers injections as directed by the physician. Casts for Orthotics. Applies below-knee casts. Applies low-dye strapping to feet. Applies Unna Boots. Performs nail debridement. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Casting Medical assistants are expected to assist with casting and bandage application under the supervision of the physician. Instrument Processing Medical assistants ensure clean and sterile instruments are used for each patient. Procedures Medical assistants assist with various procedures performed by podiatrists.
