Test Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a Fiber Test Technician for our East Granby CT location. Responsibilities include:
Performing production optical and mechanical testing of optical fibers using standard automated tests and non-automated specialized tests in accordance with documented procedures. Performing routine calibration checks on test benches and updating the calibration database. Exporting data from manual benches and using macros to convert to final data reporting format. Active involvement with fiber test and measurement quality systems. Transacting work status in Oracle and/or Cumulus ERP systems.
Education and Work Experience Required:
One or more years of hands-on technical experience in a manufacturing environment OR a relevant technical or engineering-based Associates degree or Certification. General computer proficiency, basic Excel skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of production concepts and quality systems. Knowledge of or experience with fiber optics technology preferred. Ability to understand, follow, and in some cases create documented operation procedures. Ability to multi-task and switch from task to task at short notice is important for this role. Demonstrated fine motor skills to perform manual tasks & attention to detail to accurately perform repetitive tasks. Optical test measurement experience preferred. Knowledge of basic electronics preferred. Ability to analyze results to determine the validity of testing required for this role.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move up to 20 pounds on occasion is required. Work environment is a low-noise level lab, some work requires wearing safety glasses, sitting 50%, standing 50%.
