The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide is responsible for working in accordance with policies and procedures that are established to maintain a clean environment for the facility. Job Responsibilities:
Performs major and minor housekeeping duties including cleaning hallways, common areas, apartments, rooms, and bathrooms. Follows cleaning schedules (daily, weekly, and monthly) as outlined for the Housekeeping Department. Follows established housekeeping procedures to clean assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures. Responds to the need for extraordinary attention to emergency housekeeping tasks where and when emergencies occur. Collects, cleans, and redistributes Westerwood laundry according to state and federal regulations. Ensures that all Rehabilitation Center laundry is properly sorted, washed, and dried according to state and federal regulations. Ensures that the laundry is maintained in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition. Maintains equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures. Recommends to the supervisor equipment and supply needs of the department including comments regarding the condition and operation of equipment. Empties, cleans, and relines wastebaskets. Accomplishes all tasks in order of priority.
Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. Previous experience in commercial housekeeping or laundry preferred, but not required. A wide variety of duties and responsibilities involving general knowledge of sanitation critical to the safety and welfare of the community. Ability to make quick decisions regarding cleanliness and infection control is important. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills required, as there is frequent contact with residents, guests, and employees. Must be capable of walking long distances and have the ability to handle laundry weighing 50 - 125 pounds loading and unloading machines.
