Position Summary To organize and supervise camp aquatic activities in a manner consistent with State of Michigan Licensing Rules, GSUSA Guidelines, and GSSEM Safety Activity Checkpoints. Key Responsibilities To incorporate opportunities for teaching courage, confidence, and character during daily interaction with campers and staff. To become familiar with age groups served and to organize and administer activities at the pool for each age level. To establish and enforce pool procedures in accordance with all applicable guidelines. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required Be able to evaluate swimming skills at all levels, and supervise campers. Good judgement in anticipating and preventing accidents. Job Description

As a Lifeguard & Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for the safety of our members in the pool area. This position will assist in the teaching of swim lessons and help to keep our pool clean and accessible. Responsibilities Patrol and monitor the pool by actively scanning the water and watching members to ensure their wellbeing while swimming. Rescue distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment. Maintain quality of pool water by testing chemical levels such as pH and chlorine. Examine injured persons and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training and medical supplies and equipment. Instruct swim lessons through interactive means (optional, WSI certification required to teach swim lessons). Qualifications Able to swim, tread water, instruct classes and perform rescue procedures if necessary. Previous experience teaching Red Cross swim lessons for participants of ages 6 months and up.
