Join to apply for the Counselor, Summer J-Camp role at JCC Association of North America 2 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants Principal Responsibilities: A Camp Counselor for the Jewish Alliance's Summer J-Camp is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing activities and experiences for children in a small group setting. The Alliance is looking for individuals who have experience working with children. A background in education, experiential learning, camp spirit, STEM, the arts, athletics, teambuilding, and/or Jewish learning are a plus. We are seeking general counselors and specialists. Counselors are also responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and enjoyment of the participants in their group. Program Details: Summer J-Camp runs from June 26 to August 25, with mandatory staff training during the full week of June 19. Reports to: Camp Director Minimum Qualifications: Supervise and lead a group of campers, acting as guardian, friend, mentor, and disciplinarian. Lead and assist in leading small and large group activities. Serve as a role model, engaging enthusiastically in all activities, including swimming. Communicate with the director and parents as needed. Maintain indoor and outdoor spaces and equipment. Ensure camper safety at all times. Demonstrate sensitivity to campers' needs. Maintain attendance and meal records. Attend meetings and trainings. Qualifications: Alignment with the Alliance's core values. Background in education, experiential learning, mentoring, STEM, arts, athletics, teambuilding, or Jewish learning is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of child development. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize. Teamwork skills. Willingness to obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification. Must be 16 or older. Background check if 18 or older. Documentation of immunizations. Prior experience working with children preferred.
