The Short Order Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of quick, high-quality meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role requires excellent time management, multitasking skills, and a commitment to maintaining food quality and consistency while meeting customer expectations. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items, including breakfast dishes (e.g., eggs, pancakes, and omelets), lunch and dinner options (e.g., burgers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees), according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines. Manage multiple orders simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate preparation during peak service hours. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, such as grills, fryers, stovetops, and ovens, ensuring proper functionality and safety. Stock and organize ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth workflow throughout the shift. Monitor food quality, presentation, and temperature to ensure adherence to kitchen standards. Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, following food safety protocols and health department regulations. Assist in restocking inventory and monitoring ingredient levels to minimize downtime. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth coordination of orders. Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly to maintain efficiency and customer satisfaction. Assist in closing and cleaning the kitchen at the end of the shift, ensuring all equipment and surfaces are sanitized.
Qualifications:
3-5 years proven experience as a short order cook or in a similar role in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in cooking techniques, food preparation, and knowledge of breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure. Strong organizational and time management skills. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; certification is preferred. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle the demands of a high-volume kitchen.
