Maintenance Technician II
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs for all commercial equipment. The role includes preparing material lists and cost estimates for replacement parts and equipment, maintaining inventory control of tools, equipment, and parts, and ensuring cost-effective operations. The technician monitors and maintains all mechanical systems throughout the building using automated computer programs, and ensures safety standards are followed to meet operational needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following) Perform preventive maintenance on various types of company equipment. Make general repairs and perform maintenance on company equipment. Assist subcontractors as necessary. Perform carpentry, painting, minor electrical repairs, and plumbing maintenance and repair. Perform snow and ice removal. Maintain logs of fire, safety, and mechanical equipment inspections, tests, and services.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
CONTACTS: Peers within the department, other departments, supervisors/managers, executives, Board of Directors, customers, and outside vendors/service providers. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is medium work, involving lifting up to 50 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting/carrying of up to 25 pounds. It requires constant standing, walking, manual handling; frequent carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching; use of hearing, smell, field of vision, near/mid/far vision, depth perception; and occasional typing and driving. Working conditions include exposure to weather, heat/cold, humidity, noise, vibration, and air quality. Hazards include moving mechanical parts, electric shock, high places, chemicals, infectious exposures, and occasional computer and equipment use. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe shoes are provided. REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Trade or Technical School Certificate preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or building maintenance. Valid driver’s license and insurability by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department; compliance with annual review standards required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and ability to use tools necessary for mechanical repair in building maintenance. Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals. Effective communication skills.
