This position is responsible for all repairs and preventative maintenance, including initial and final inspections of Heavy Tactical Equipment. The Heavy Tactical Vehicle Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Heavy Tactical Vehicles, advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex maintenance problems. This mechanic prepares for storage and mobility deployment; operates, cleans, inspects, and services towing vehicles; maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records; and provides dispatch service for Heavy Tactical Equipment. Conduct thorough inspections of wheeled vehicles, including engines, transmissions, power train components, hydraulic systems, and fuel system components. Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs to keep vehicles in optimal condition. Inspect, adjust, and test parts and systems to ensure functionality. Supervise and professionally develop subordinates. Handle maintenance-related administrative tasks, including record-keeping and reporting. Plan work area layout for efficiency and safety. Conduct on-the-job training. Must have the ability to climb up the back of Heavy Tactical Equipment. Extremely knowledgeable in U.S. Army maintenance procedures on Heavy Tactical Equipment. Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation result and obtain and maintain a CAC. Must pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) with Air Brakes endorsement. Must have an active and valid Driver’s License.
Education and Experience:
Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma / GED. 4+ years’ experience maintaining Heavy Tactical Equipment. ASE Certification.
