We are Prince George’s Proud! The Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill a Transit Project Coordinator (Grade G18) position in the Transit and Taxi Administration Division.
About the Position: This entry-level professional administrative position will serve as support to the Office of Transportation. The incumbent assists with the daily coordination of transit capital projects, including customer facilities, battery electric bus contracts and grants, as well as related administrative and fiscal support. Duties include communicating between program participants, third-party contractors, and managerial staff, creating and updating program schedules, and assisting in the planning and managing program events.
About the Agency: The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons, and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area -- all maintained by the Department's staff. DPW&T’s workforce keeps the County’s various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets, and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects. Provides field support related to transit programming as assigned. Assists in the analysis, interpretation, and submittals of written documentation for consultant and NTD in a traceable log. Confers with peers and manager on specific problems, issues, and needs related to assigned projects and conveys concerns requiring direct intervention and information. Monitors assigned transit programs and services; provides performance reports to management measuring success or the need for the development of additional programs and services. Assists with production and submission of monthly and quarterly program analyses in approved formats; develops report formats highlighting established key performance indicators. Accurately compiles data using appropriate contract reporting formats to ensure compliance with program requirements. Assists in research to develop cost-effective, accurate, reasonable, and consistent fiscal and administrative program recommendations. Attends and takes notes in cross-agency, multi-disciplinary team meetings to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the transit and mobility services. Prepares correspondence, memorandums, and other related documents. Organizes monthly Office update meetings as well as quarterly transit advisory committee meetings; develops monthly agenda and prepares slide deck of the presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from college with major course work in Liberal Arts, one of the Social Sciences, or Public or Business Administration. Any equivalent combination of education and experience is also accepted. EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
