Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr Location: Columbus, Ohio Position Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Entry-Level to Early Career Career Path: Stepping Stone to Superintendent Role About the Company: Our client, a top General Contractor in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a motivated Field Engineer to join their growing team. This role provides a clear path toward a Superintendent position , making it an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to advance in the commercial construction industry. Position Overview: The Field Engineer will play a vital role in supporting daily construction activities, ensuring quality control, and assisting with project coordination. This position is ideal for entry-level candidates and those with a few years of experience who are eager to gain hands-on field experience and grow into a leadership role. Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Manager and Site Superintendent with daily coordination and planning. Provide technical support to field operations, troubleshooting design and construction challenges. Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure adherence to project plans. Conduct field surveys and collect data to support project designs and modifications. Implement quality control and safety standards throughout all construction phases. Monitor on-site work to ensure compliance with project standards, building codes, and specifications . Inspect and test materials, equipment, and work to verify adherence to project requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 0-3 years of experience in construction or field engineering; commercial project experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents . Strong understanding of construction safety protocols and best practices. Knowledge of project scheduling and management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, AutoCAD) is a plus. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work on-site , with occasional extended hours or weekend shifts as needed.
