We currently have an opening for a Metallurgist at our Minerva, OH location. This position reports to the Plant Manager. Responsibilities: Review, understand, and abide by the requirements of the Quality Management System, Customer Specific Requirements, and the Environmental Management System. Supervise the Metallurgical Laboratory performing daily metallurgical testing as required. Write process instructions, where applicable, by determining process parameters required to achieve customer requirements. Write and maintain QCP documents for outside heat treating. Manage subcontractor's PPAP submissions and coordinate with the respective plant QA. Interface with the AAM Metallurgy group and participate in inter-company standardization activities. Act as a customer liaison and promote continuous improvement by coordinating and/or participating in meetings with customers, as well as quality team meetings and employee meetings. Prepare Metallurgical Lab Reports on non-conforming products received from suppliers. Prepare other Quality Assurance related reports or documents as requested by the Manager of Quality. Perform Metallurgical Analysis on non-conforming product returns from the customer when applicable. Comply with established quality procedures in the completion and documentation of work performed. All other tasks as assigned. Required Skills and Education: Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science, or related. Five years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment (preferably in machining or forging for the automotive industry). Familiarity with Induction Heating and Hardening (2 years of Induction Hardening experience preferred). Familiarity with TS16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.
