Status: Regular Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt) Reports To: Division Director Schedule/Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week with additional hours as needed with some adjustment expected to accommodate specific projects and program needs. Some evening and weekend hours may be occasionally required. Travel: Regional travel required. Direct Reports: Project Managers; Crew Leaders Position Summary: The Associate Director of Operations (ADO) for the ACE Division will work under the direction of the Division Director to manage a variety of programmatic and operational programs and initiatives. The ADO is directly responsible for leading and developing innovative programmatic strategies and ensuring Division compliance with program operations. This position is an integral part in identifying and coordinating training and professional development opportunities that support both ACE staff and members as well as ensuring that all projects and programs are well managed and working closely with the Division Director with improving the overall member experience on projects. The ADO will frequently interact with ACE’s staff, members, project partners and the general public and as such is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to act as an ambassador of ACE’s program at all times. The Associate Director will need to be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast-paced office environment. Leadership and forward-thinking are important assets in this position as the Division continues to evolve. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Oversee and support the division field support staff (project managers) Interact and communicate with Staff and members in order to foster an open and inclusive environment Train and support Division staff to coordinate and conduct ACE trainings and ensure technical trainings are delivered to every new member Foster an environment that is anti-bullying, anti-harassment and anti-discrimination Identify, coordinate, and schedule needed training to prepare and support staff and members. Responsible for implementing performance action contracts, suspensions for violations of ACE Policy. Create, edit and finalize member schedule for each project cycle with considerations to member experience, skill set and project needs Maintain and improve current programmatic and operational strategies and develop new strategies to increase the productivity of the program. Work closely with land management project partners to plan and schedule projects and assign Project Managers to appropriate projects/training. Work with Division Director and Project Partners on project scheduling and growth Ensure that all project measurables and goals are met, including communicating and supporting project partners with project implementation Assist in grant writing and new project and program development as needed Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years of related professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Practical knowledge of or experience with similar corps-oriented, non-profit organizations, land-based federal agencies such as the Department of Interior or other federal or state agencies. Computer skills required including intermediate knowledge of google suites, and professional email etiquette; Strong data management skills. General knowledge and understanding of AmeriCorps and federal grants Practical knowledge of field conservation activities such as ecological restoration, trail maintenance and construction techniques, general forestry and range management Knowledge of the federal grants and agreements processes preferable as is contract experience. Willingness and ability to communicate and coordinate internally within ACE and with external stakeholders and partners Willingness to travel, work occasional weekends and attend community events and/or conferences Strong skills in interpersonal communication, public speaking, organization, management, conflict resolution and motivating others Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both technical and interpersonal skills. Ability to perform work under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to adapt to surrounding work environment and conditions that can change frequently Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisors Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to understand and follow ACE systems and processes. Proven ability to work independently and be a positive, contributing member of a group.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions: Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch. Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus. Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds. Environmental: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic. Travel: This position requires domestic travel.
Compensation: Starting annualized salary range from $60,000 - $70,000 (assuming 40 hours/week 52 weeks/year), depending on experience. ACE Staff members are also eligible to participate in ACE's 403b retirement plan with a 2% employer contribution. Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Time: As an ACE staff member, you will be eligible to accrue up to 80 hours of paid vacation time annually during your first two years of continuous employment, then it increases to 120 hours annually. ACE observes 13 paid annual holidays (floating holiday flexibility). ACE provides 10 days (or 80 hours) of paid sick time annually.
