The ideal candidate will have a background in defense litigation, particularly involving chemical exposure and toxic torts, and will collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices and local counsel nationwide. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation matters within a supportive, team-oriented environment. Duties:
Conduct thorough legal, medical, and scientific research to support defense strategies in toxic tort cases. Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop defense plans and case strategies. Handle all aspects of discovery, including electronic discovery (e-discovery), and manage complex documentation. Take and defend depositions, and represent clients in courtroom appearances. Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, client reports, and memoranda. Assist in trial and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) preparation and planning. Maintain communication with clients and provide regular updates on case progress. Achieve a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually.
Requirements:
3-5 years of experience in toxic tort and chemical exposure litigation. Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Active membership and good standing in the New York State Bar. Preference for admission to the Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Jersey Bar (or ability to waive into NJ). Proven experience with depositions, motion practice, pleadings, and e-discovery. Familiarity with video conferencing tools such as Zoom and MS Teams. Willingness to travel for in-person depositions and court appearances, including overnight stays. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple priorities.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
Admission to the New York State Bar is required. Admission to additional State Bars (Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Jersey) is preferred.
Skills:
Strong research and writing capabilities. In-depth experience with toxic tort defense, including chemical exposure cases. Experience with e-discovery and managing large volumes of documents.
