Sales Director (Grocery Wholesale)

GMI Trading, LLC, a division of Grand Market International Corp., is the leading importer and distributor of Eastern European foods and products in North America. Strategically headquartered in South Plainfield, NJ, with over 135,000 square feet of warehouse space, we are committed to delivering high-quality products and services to our customers. The Director of Sales will drive our expansion within the U.S. grocery retail sector. We are seeking a strategic and results-driven leader with direct experience working with U.S. supermarket chains. This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive channel strategy across B2B, Wholesale, Key Accounts, Local, and E-commerce channels, focused on territory growth, customer acquisition, and increased revenue. Working closely with the executive team, this role will enhance our market presence, strengthen vendor and customer relationships, and support robust growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Execute Channel Strategy: Lead the design and implementation of a growth-driven channel strategy to expand territories, increase service coverage, and grow the customer base. Sales Team Leadership: Recruit and manage a high-performance sales team. Establish best practices, set clear KPIs, and implement a results-oriented remuneration structure. Customer and Vendor Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with new and existing customers and vendors to strengthen our competitive position. Sales Strategy Execution: Define and implement competitive sales strategies to capture market share and achieve sales objectives. Process Optimization and Integration: Organize sales operations following the sales funnel and establish integrations with support functions to ensure efficient demand management. Product Portfolio Optimization: Balance product offerings to align with capacity, demand, diversity, and profitability goals. Brand Advocacy: Represent the company brand effectively, collaborating with the Marketing team to enhance visibility and drive market penetration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in closing deals and driving sales within grocery distribution. At least 6 years of senior sales or distributor development experience, particularly within the U.S. retail distribution sector. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SAP or SAP-B1 experience is an advantage. Ability to travel up to 50% as required.
