Description: Ultrasound Tech, FT, Piedmont Columbus Northside RESPONSIBLE FOR: Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides patient services utilizing ultrasound equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology. Provides patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Communicates effectively with staff and radiologists. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an AMA approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent experience according to Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: None Must become registered by the ARDMS within (6) months of employment. Vascular Sonographers must become registered and/or RVT, RVS, RT(S), RT(VS) within (6) months of employment. Licensure requirement for Breast Ultrasound can be met with registration through ARRT (BS). ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: BLS certified. One (1) year of experience is preferred. Registered ARDMS and/or RVS/RVT (Registered Vascular Specialist) is desired.

The Surgical Technologist and/or the Certified Surgical Technologist prepares the room and gathers supplies needed for surgical procedures; delivers instruments and supplies to the surgeon and other members of the surgical team intra operatively; may function as second assistant to the surgeon; assists in the proper decontamination of the room, supplies and instruments post operatively. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Prepares for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies, equipment and instruments, reviews surgeon's preferences to determine required items. Establishes and maintains a sterile field and presents instruments to the operating team. Delivers appropriate instruments/supplies utilizing proper principles of sterile technique. Acts as 2nd assistant to surgeon, performing duties related to draping, operative site exposure. Responsible for removal of all sharps and initials return card for verification. Functions as 2nd circular with RN supervision. Can hold extremities. Assist with casting and splinting. Mixes medications on the sterile field once verification by a registered nurse has occurred. Assist with positioning, can fix specimens in formalin, may do in annual competency , assists circulator in proper care and handling of surgical specimens. Can wash and thaw grafts, can hold a stapler while surgeon fires it, can operate skin stapler for the purpose of wound approximation, and can assist with the dislocation of joints if yearly competency is accomplished. Can cut suture material as directed by and under the supervision of a surgeon, Can apply ESU to clamps or forceps for hemostatis under the direct supervision of the surgeon, can assist anesthesia if yearly competency is accomplished, Can assist with patient skin prep if yearly competency is accomplished, Can change out camera and robotic instruments during endoscopic procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon, Can manipulate the uterus during robotic cases under the direct supervision of the surgeon. In this role, the successful candidate, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their level of understanding and knowledge of the field, diseases, and new procedures as they evolve. Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area. Completes assigned scans in a timely manner. Observes, reports significant physical, or safety status changes in the patient's condition to the Nursing Staff, Perinatologist, and/or designated physician. Operates equipment as directed. Positions and transfers patients comfortably and safely. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients correctly. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner. Maintains equipment for optimum usage availability. Assembles methods and necessary information and film for Perinatologist. Explains procedures to the patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results. Makes hard copy images as directed and documents tests as completed. Disinfects vaginal probes and maintains log as needed. Conducts scanning procedures using ultrasonic equipment. Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physician for patients.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify, you must have a High School Diploma, a minimum of 1 year of experience, and ARDMS certification.
