The VP, Western Region, will lead Birthright Israel Foundation's (BRIF) strategic fundraising efforts across the Western United States, focusing on donor engagement, solicitation, and securing essential resources to fuel BRIF's mission. Based in Los Angeles, the VP will lead a team of professionals, executing growth strategies and elevating BRIF's regional presence. Organizational Overview At Birthright Israel Foundation, our mission is to ensure that every Jewish young adult has the opportunity to embark on a life-changing journey to Israel, fostering a deep connection to their heritage, the land, and the global Jewish community. Location Reports To Compensation $240,000-$265,000 FLSA: Exempt Key Responsibilities Build and strengthen relationships with high-net-worth donors and foundations capable of investing $100,000+ annually. Oversee a portfolio of 40-45 major donors and prospects using targeted strategies to cultivate and secure support. Actively solicit major gifts, working directly with donors to engage them in BRIF's mission, and align their philanthropic interests with our transformative programs. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to drive year-over-year revenue growth, with a special focus on new prospects. Track and analyze fundraising trends, making data-driven adjustments to optimize strategies and ensure targets are met or exceeded.
Stewardship & Donor Retention
Develop individualized plans to retain and upgrade donors, identifying opportunities for deepening commitment to BRIF's mission.
Event Strategy & Public Speaking
Lead and participate in high-profile events to cultivate new prospects and engage existing donors, including private gatherings, briefings, and missions. Serve as a public representative for Birthright Israel Foundation, speaking confidently and persuasively to donors, lay leadership, and community stakeholders to elevate Birthright Israel's profile.
Prospect Research & Legacy Giving
Work with the Campaign Operations Systems Associate to identify, research, and qualify new major donor prospects, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of supporters. Identify and cultivate legacy and endowment gifts to enhance BRIF's long-term financial stability.
Regional Leadership
Lead and mentor the Western Region fundraising team, providing guidance, setting objectives, and conducting performance reviews to align team efforts with BRIF's mission and goals. Oversee budget allocation and expenses within the regional budget, ensuring efficient resource use to maximize impact. Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 10+ years in senior fundraising roles, with substantial experience in major gift solicitation and donor engagement in a complex, mission-driven organization. Fundraising Expertise: Proven record in cultivating and securing significant donations from high-net-worth individuals, ideally within the Jewish philanthropic community. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; strong public speaking skills with experience presenting to high-level donors and community groups. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), with expertise in data analysis to inform strategy and drive decision-making.
