(Physician/MD qualifications required) Psychiatry (General) - Psychiatrist - Hogansburg, NY (#R10002) Minimum of 5 years of clinical psychiatric experience, preferably in diverse or Tribal populations. Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Health Services (SRMTHS) seeks a dedicated and qualified psychiatrist to provide high-quality mental health services to Tribal members, veterans, and the broader Akwesasne community. Care is delivered in a patient-centered medical home and team-based model, with a focus on holistic, full-patient care across all age groups. SRMTHS offers a collaborative and empowering environment, where providers lead in delivering comprehensive healthcare services. With an integrated approach, SRMTHS includes medical, dental, mental health, and addiction services, along with on-site pharmacy and laboratory facilities. Requirements of the Psychiatrist: Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with board certification in Psychiatry. Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable state with no history of suspension or reprimand. Minimum of 5 years of clinical psychiatric experience, preferably in diverse or Tribal populations. Strong understanding of integrated mental health care and the ability to work in a team-based model. Excellent communication and documentation skills. High-quality patient care aligned with APA standards. Accurate and timely documentation of all clinical interactions. Consultation and support for team members and other stakeholders in mental health care.
Schedule of the Psychiatrist: Estimated 40 hours per month. This is a 1 year contract.
Benefits of the Psychiatrist: The salary for this position is $250 - $350 | hour.
Responsibilities of Psychiatrist:
Patient Care: Provide psychiatric care to eligible community members, adhering to American Psychiatric Association standards and applicable state and local laws. Evaluate patients and create individualized treatment plans based on biological, psychological, and social factors. Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring careful consideration of current patient prescriptions and interactions. Provide verbal therapies and medication therapy management as needed.
Clinical Supervision & Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychologists, nurses, and case managers, to assess and adjust treatment plans. Offer clinical oversight for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Licensed Master Social Workers. Act as clinical oversight for the Mental Health Department to support billing processes.
Additional Services: Participate in a team approach to mental health treatment, including consultations with personnel. Conduct mental health in-service training and participate in quality review/assurance meetings as required. Provide telephone consultations and, when clinically appropriate, conduct home visits. Refer patients to other practitioners when necessary and coordinate services with the Director.
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and comply with policies and NYS Office of Mental Health (NYSOMH) standards. Submit data collection reports to support the billing process.
