Description
The Hospitality Aide will provide assigned residents with non-clinical care and services in accordance with directives given by the Charge Nurse.
Follow resident assignment schedule as made out by Charge Nurse. Requires being mentally alert and communicating verbally and in writing about resident's condition and care.
Walk with ambulatory residents or push them in a wheelchair. Safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations. Manual dexterity is required for assisting residents with their personal needs.
Comb hair, nail care (of any residents assigned; clippers not used). Manual dexterity needed for personal need assistance.
Answer call lights promptly, determine if request does not involve direct care, and then carry out request. Examples include helping with TV, telephone, personal items, blanket or pillow, food tray or snack, or refilling water/ice.
Provide pre‑ and post‑meal grooming: washing hands and face, and assist to and from the dining room.
Clean water pitchers and keep fresh water at bedside. Offer water and/or juices several times to residents who request and can drink independently.
Maintain proper oral hygiene by assisting with tooth brushing, denture care, and keeping the mouth clean.
Be alert to resident’s comforts and needs. Answer requests promptly and report to nurse anything that exceeds your ability.
Knock before entering a resident’s room and request permission to enter.
Use tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
Observe all residents and report anything unusual or abnormal to Charge Nurse. Safely care for residents in a respectful manner despite lack of cooperation or combativeness.
Follow safety guidelines. Promptly remove and clean up urine or bowel excretions from floors and other spills or safety hazards.
Clean wheelchairs, beds, nursing equipment, and resident personal hygiene items as directed. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and remove assistive devices for cleaning.
Safely utilize equipment and report any needing service or repair immediately.
Participate in emergency fire or disaster drills and in‑service training. Must be able to safely ascend and descend stairwells and assist in evacuation.
Follow Universal Safety Precautions to protect self, residents, and other staff. Rinse soiled linen before sending to laundry; tolerate strong odors and required personal protective equipment.
Bring laundry barrels to the laundry room; retrieve linens for beds and keep unoccupied beds made.
Bring residents to and from daily activities at the facility.
Assist with activities occurring in the building.
Perform clerical functions as needed.
Maintain regular attendance in accordance with facility attendance policies and perform special duties as assigned.
May be required to perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Charge Nurse in accordance with qualifications and training provided.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents.
Ability to complete assignments amid constant interruptions.
At least 16 years of age.
