PRN - As Needed Position
Promotes optimal health, well-being and safety through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, and the Idaho Nurse Practice Act. Provides relationship based care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate, coordinated and culturally competent care based on respect for patients preferences, values, and needs. Engages fully within nursing and inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making to achieve quality patient care. Integrates best current evidence into clinical practice and uses data to monitor and improve the outcomes of care processes. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making.
Responsibilities
Evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for an assigned patient population.
Assists physician during examinations and procedures.
Performs variety of duties during surgical procedures.
Assures policies and procedures are followed and provides necessary pre‑ and post‑operative care of patients.
Guides OR Technicians in pre‑operative and post‑operative procedures and duties.
Ensures all consents are complete and policies and procedures are followed.
Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.
Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self‑care skills.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
Will be required to work a one‑week off, one‑week on scheduled rotation.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies.
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program required.
State of Idaho Registered Nurse licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure or current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with Idaho prior to start date.
BLS required.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position.
Typical equipment used in a clinical job.
On feet a minimum of 8‑12 hours, depending on length of shift.
Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment up to 50 pounds.
Read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten materials.
Must be able to assist in patient transfer.
Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
Potential exposure to chemicals and blood‑borne pathogens.
Work with equipment and computers (keyboarding).
Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
St. Marys and Clearwater Health operates 24 hours per day, 365 days a year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.
St. Marys and Clearwater Health clinic locations have operation hours based on locations and patient needs; therefore availability to work all clinic shifts, weekends and holidays as appropriate for location will be expected and required.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
