Job Description
The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 in Delta Junction. This position is open to Alaska residents only. Check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.
Primary Functions
The incumbent serves as the main Area Office contact for the public, over the phone and in person, handling inquiries related to various programs and providing written informational materials.
Processing Emergency Firefighter hiring packets and payroll, auditing documents for the Delta Area office before submitting them to the Payroll Office.
Assisting with travel close‑out by coding travel receipts and processing Trip Closure Forms through Shared Services.
Providing administrative support such as typing, copying, faxing, scanning, document filing and distribution, auditing timesheets, small office procurement, and answering phones.
Maintaining information system proficiency with state accounting, payroll, and related systems.

Customer Service: working with clients and customers, providing information and assistance.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs. Education substitutions are allowed. Knowledge of a regular driver’s license and typing skills may also be required.
Required Documents
Valid driver’s license
Two professional references with current contact information, at least one supervisor
Forestry and/or fire‑related training certificates
Two most recent performance evaluations or a letter of reference if unavailable
Special Notices
May travel during fire season for up to 14–21 days at a time within Alaska.
Work may be required during evenings and/or weekends.
Possibility to qualify for other Incident Command System positions.
