Job Title: Surgery Scheduler

Location: New Braunfels, TX
Salary: $16.15 - $18.70 per hour
Job Summary
Plans and schedules surgical and related appointments for doctors. Manages credentialing of professional staff members for the facility by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
Maintains master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab and insurance carriers.
Schedule surgeries, coordinate schedule between Surgery Center and doctor's offices.
Gather detailed information for patient's chart (procedure type, supplies, equipment, insurance info) and enter into computer system.
Schedule all surgical anesthesia services according to doctor preference and availability.
Ensure pre‑certification/referrals are in order for Insurance Coordinator.
Complete billing packets for CSO on a daily basis.
Confer with OR Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and/or Administrator to determine status of scheduled surgeries; alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Work closely with Administrator and CSO Credentialing person when maintaining approved privileges for each physician or as documents are updated.
Provide relief for front business office, receptionist and other business functions as needed.
Cross‑trained to perform all other job descriptions.
Interact appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
Initiate safe practices and be knowledgeable about center policies and procedures (pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events, variance reporting, root cause analysis, etc.).
Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participate in emergency preparedness drills.
Follow all equipment safety guidelines and be responsible for knowledgeable use and care of all business equipment.
Qualifications
High School education and/or equivalent.
At least two years direct experience as a Scheduler in the medical field, with surgery scheduling preferred.
Ability to communicate verbally and non‑verbally in a professional manner.
Use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high‑paced demand.
Show genuine desire to work and improve the hospital as a whole.
Professional appearance.
Strong medical terminology.
Excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
