Overview
The Registered Nurse at Wharton Campus is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients on an assigned unit. The staff nurse provides direction to licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital.
Responsibilities
Provide professional nursing care and related assistance to patients on an assigned unit.
Direct licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care.
Support the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the hospital's objectives.
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum Work Experience
One year acute care clinical nursing experience OR equivalent EMT/Paramedic experience required. Experience in critical care preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (or ENPC) required within 6 months of employment. TNCC within 18 months of employment. Employees must remain current in these certifications.
Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
Demonstrated leadership ability and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication skills. Computer skills.
