Registered Dental Hygienist
Asheville, NC
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate the patients oral health status and needs via screening protocols, including medical history assessment, dental charting, and periodontal charting
Provide hands‑on patient care following standard dental hygiene protocols
Measure and record patient vital signs
Carry out standard procedures such as prophylaxis and polishing
Capture diagnostic radiographs as directed by the dentist for treatment planning
Administer sealants and fluoride applications
Manage electronic patient records
Record the patients dental history and primary complaint
Document and relay relevant clinical findings
Educate patients on preventing caries and periodontal disease through diet and effective home‑care practices
Clean and sterilize all instruments
Prepare the treatment plan as outlined by the dentist
Discuss the treatment plan and related fees with the patient
Clearly convey patient questions or concerns to the dentist
Serve as the lead treatment coordinator
Perform additional tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be dependable
Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene certificate or associate‑degree program with a current North Carolina hygienist license
Able to think independently and apply sound judgment
Capable of developing, influencing, interpreting, and/or applying operational procedures
Demonstrates a team‑oriented approach to duties
Exhibits initiative, reliability, and punctuality
Handles frequent, detail‑oriented repetitive tasks
Adapts readily to varied assignments with a positive attitude
Follows directions and accepts accountability for own performance
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patients and their care
Reads and comprehends documents such as safety guidelines, procedure manuals, and written correspondence
Understands instructions provided in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule format
