Position Summary Lamar Community College (LCC) is seeking an energetic, highly organized, dynamic professional to join our LCC team. The Director of Strategic Initiatives at LCC is responsible for providing visionary leadership and oversight for strategic initiatives that support the College's mission and growth, particularly as they relate to the recently awarded Title V Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Grant project Aspira. Reporting directly to the President, the Director will work closely with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure comprehensive and effective implementation of the Title V grant, manage the grant budget, track performance metrics, and ensure timely completion of project objectives as described in the grant narrative. This position is critical to advancing LCC's commitment to improving educational opportunities and success for students, fostering post-secondary participation, retention, and completion in an engaging and supportive campus environment. As an employee of, and the Colorado Community College System, this position is required to uphold and enforce the policies of LCC and CCCS, and all local, state and federal laws. This position will comply with all student privacy laws (FERPA); and is a mandatory reporter of any suspected illegal activity.
Examples of Duties
Key Responsibilities Title V Grant Leadership and Management. Oversee all Title V grant-funded activities, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines and alignment with grant goals and objectives. Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to meet grant performance indicators, supporting student access, persistence, and completion. Track project performance metrics, compile reports for stakeholders, and communicate grant progress to the President, LCC leadership, and external partners. Work closely with the business office to manage the Title V grant budget, ensuring that expenditures align with grant requirements and deadlines.
Strategic Initiatives and Program Development Collaborate with academic and student services departments to create and enhance programs that align with Title V goals, focusing on student retention, academic support, and workforce development. Identify, pursue, and support additional funding opportunities and partnerships that support the long-term sustainability of Title V initiatives. Lead the development and integration of data-informed practices for decision-making and continuous improvement. Perform other related-duties as assigned.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Serve as the primary liaison between LCC, community stakeholders, and grant funders to strengthen partnerships that expand educational opportunities. Facilitate internal communication about Title V project progress, engaging faculty, staff, and students in the initiatives. Work closely with a cross-functional team of internal stakeholders for the development of strategic action priorities, responsibilities, expected outcomes, and timeliness. Prepare and deliver presentations to the stakeholders, including community groups, college staff, and others on grant progress and key strategic initiatives.
Institutional Reporting and Compliance Ensure full compliance with all federal reporting requirements for the Title V grant, and other related programs, submitting timely and accurate required reports including to the U.S. Department of Education. Oversee documentation and record-keeping for all related activities, maintaining transparency and accountability. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in education administration, higher education, project management, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education administration or a related field. Demonstrated understanding of Title V or similar HSI grant objectives and compliance requirements preferred. Proven track record of developing and managing strategic initiatives that support student success and institutional growth. Strong budget management, reporting, and project management skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with diverse groups, including students, faculty, staff, and community partners. High level of cultural competency and a commitment to advancing access and success for all. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
Master's degree preferred in education administration, higher education, project management, or related field. Experience working within a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) or with programs focused on underserved populations. Experience managing federal grants. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Knowledge of data analytics and assessment for program improvement. Proficiency in project management software Familiar with enrollment and retention technology tools such as EAB Navigate and Ellucian Recruit. Experience with data collection, evaluation, and report writing, either directly or through institutional or external contractor collaborations. Experience in a community college setting.
Supplemental Information
Salary Range: $64,000.00 - $68,000.00. The specific salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
