The Yampa River Botanic Park (YRBP) is a 6-acre botanical garden that is open daily from dawn to dusk, free of charge. As a division of the City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department, the Botanic Park is operated by the Yampa River Botanic Park Association in partnership with the City. The Yampa River Botanic Park is a small, friendly team that works to showcase the only botanical garden in Northwest Colorado welcoming thirty thousand visitors throughout the summer. YRBP is a vibrant and vital part of the community with approximately 100 volunteers contributing over 1,300 hours annually. A place of community, the Botanic Park is a very rewarding place to work.
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Visitor Services Coordinator performs daily tasks and responsibilities to support the organization, its visitors, and volunteers.

Works under the general supervision of the Botanic Park Manager.

The qualified individual Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while always espousing safety. General Administration Works directly with and supports the Botanic Park Manager. Serves as a member of the Visitor Experience Committee and attends monthly meetings. Works with part-time seasonal staff and volunteers. Interacts with visitors and answers questions about the Botanic Park. Serves as the direct liaison with community partners and programs including Music on the Green, Storytime, Lulie's Watercolors and Wildflowers, and Piknik Theatre. Manages merchandise sales. Checks voicemails and emails daily and responds within 24 hours. Collects and sorts mail from the post office, twice per week. Updates the master calendar as events and meetings are added. Purchases office supplies Marking and Communications Assists the Botanic Park Manager in external communication including the website and social media. Responsible for social media posts on Facebook and Instagram. Manages the website and content updates. Responsible for the spring and fall newsletters. Creates monthly e-newsletters (Constant Contact). Photographs plants and gardens in the Park for social media, newsletters; and maintains a photo database. Programs and Events Assists with Botanic Park special events as needed including the Fairy Garden Contest, The Annual Meeting, the Fall Bulb Sale, the Spring Plant Sale, and Passport Through the Botanic Park. Promotes events through the website, social media, press releases, ads, and posters. Updates the Children's Activity Book annually. Orders Plant Hero Books. Creates and updates the QR code project. Facility Rental Fields all requests for tours and contracts for renting facilities within the Park. Serves as the primary liaison between the Park and the renter and their contractors (catering and event rentals). Is responsible for data entry into the City's reservation and payment system (Civic Rec). Volunteer Coordinator Manages the volunteer program Friends of the Botanic Park. Coordinates the annual Friends of the Park volunteer orientation. Recruits volunteers to ensure all volunteer opportunities are filled. (Social Gardening, Tour Guides, Greeters, and event volunteers) Updates the volunteer handbook as needed. Trains volunteers as needed. (Greeters, merchandise sales) Manages the volunteer sign-up database. Maintains an up-to-date database of volunteer contact information. Develops and coordinates volunteer recognition opportunities.
We are seeking the following qualifications Education and Experience:
Requires High School diploma or GED with additional college courses, and Two to four (2-4) years of related experience; or Any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year for year basis. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong technical skills Strong proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Google Applications, and CRM databases.
Proficient with social media channels including Facebook and Instagram Proficient with website content management. Knowledgeable with managing accessible websites preferred. Knowledgeable with plants and gardening preferred. Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. Will be required to obtain CPR certification (at no cost to the employee). Ability to adapt, take initiative, work independently, and complete daily activities. Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, volunteers, and the public. Maintain a flexible work schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
