Job Description
Obstetrics-Gynecology Nurse Practitioner
The contractor shall provide evaluation and management services as an Obstetrics-Gynecology Nurse Practitioner, which may include home and community settings, with the following specifications:
- Contractor will provide prenatal and postnatal care to pregnant women
- Contractor will conduct gynecological exams and pap smears
- Contractor will diagnose and treat reproductive health issues
- Contractor will perform screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Contractor will manage contraception and family planning
- Contractor will educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention
- Contractor will develop and implement individualized care plans
- Contractor will prescribe medications and therapies
- Contractor will offer menopausal care and hormone replacement therapy
- Contractor will collaborate with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care
- Contractor will perform minor medical procedures like IUD placements and removals
- Contractor will interpret diagnostic tests (imaging) and lab results
- Contractor will provide patient counseling and support
- Contractor will document patient interactions and medical histories accurately
- Contractor will assist with community outreach and education activity in the local area
- Contractor will provide lifesaving and support measures in emergency situations, when necessary
- Contractor will work with appropriate staff, other agencies and accepting facilities to medically stabilize and coordinate appropriate urgent and emergent transfers to facilities with a higher level of care, when necessary
- Contractor shall provide written documentation of evaluations, treatment, orders, medications and referrals through the electronic health record in a timely, accurate, and complete manner following the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services documentation guidelines as well as the Mescalero Medical Staff rules and regulations for timely completion of record documentation
- Record keeping, release of information and patient confidentiality are in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
- Contractor shall participate in Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities of the facility and, if needed, in peer review functions
- Contractor will adhere to guidelines as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws
- Contractor may utilize Government Owned Vehicle (GSA) for community outreach/education
- Contractor must maintain credentialing and privileges at Mescalero Service Unit
- Contractor shall only be compensated at the agreed contract amount based on invoices submitted and only for services in direct performance of this contract
- Training and training expenses are not covered by this contract, unless it is included as; training required by Indian Health Service (IHS) for new technology or as a requirement of the IHS and IHS itself has not had the required training to carry out its mission
- The contract terms and conditions does not allow for accrual of annual or sick leave or other fringe benefits
- Overtime compensation is not authorized in this contract
Qualifications:
- Contractor will maintain active, full and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in this state or any other state of the United States of America throughout the duration of this contract
- Contractor must provide and maintain active Nurse Practitioner Certification or Women's Health Specialty Certification throughout the duration of this contract
- Contractor must maintain credentialing and privileges at Mescalero Service Unit
- Contractor must have a valid driver's license
- Provide documents to complete security procedures to include fingerprint cards
- Maintain confidentiality of patient care records
- Possess, maintain and able to provide proof of Medical Professional Liability Insurance in the amounts of $1,000,000/$3,000,000
Schedule:
Services are required at 40 hours a week (with an hour NON-PAID lunch break), some weekends and evenings may be required. Regular hours of operation are:
- Mondays 0800-1700
- Tuesdays 0800-1700
- Wednesdays 0900-1700
- Thursdays 0800-1700
- Fridays 0800-1700
