Position Overview: As the chief preventive provider within the practice, the Dental Hygienist plays a key role in promoting patient oral health. Under indirect supervision, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional preventive dental care, educating patients on oral hygiene, and assisting the dental team with patient care as needed. This position involves direct patient interaction, including cleaning teeth, taking X-rays, applying preventive treatments, and assisting with patient education. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Welcome and seat patients with a cheerful attitude. Assess patients' oral health, including head, neck, and oral cancer exams. Remove deposits from teeth, clean calcareous deposits, and treat periodontal disease.Preve ntive Care: Pro vide fluoride treatments, apply sealants, and educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices. Take and develop X-rays and interpret them in collaboration with the dentist.Treat ment Planning: Dev elop and present patient treatment plans. Communicate findings and provide updates to patients and the dental team regarding treatment progress.Hygie ne Procedures: Per form scaling, root planing, and other hygiene procedures. Assist patients with proper oral hygiene and preventive measures.Docum entation & Records: Mai ntain accurate patient records, charting progress, treatments, and home care compliance. Update patient health histories and ensure all necessary documentation is complete.Team
Collaboration: Wor k chair-side with the dentist to assist with exams and treatments. Ensure a smooth patient flow and provide exceptional care in a team-oriented environment.Equip ment & Sterilization: Mai ntain hygiene instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Assist with sterilization duties and adhere to strict safety guidelines and OSHA standards.Addit ional Duties: Ass ist in office functions as needed, attend continuing education seminars, and maintain regular attendance according to the office policies. Qualifications:
Valid NH Dental Hygiene License . Experience in dental hygiene and preventive dental care. Proficient in dental hygiene techniques, X-ray procedures, and patient education. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. High level of professionalism, confidentiality (HIPAA compliance), and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. Must maintain a professional, pleasant demeanor and represent the practice positively at all times. Occasional travel may be required for continuing education or seminars.
