Job Description • Performs procedures on patients whose conditions require specialized expertise. • Assists Radiologists, other physicians and allied health care professionals in performing diagnostic or treatment procedures. • Performs diagnostic testing on equipment and general maintenance. • Monitors patient and equipment condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professional. • Assists and guides radiographers in the performance of a wide variety of x-ray procedures. • Trains and assists radiographers in a wide variety of x-ray procedures. • Plans, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure continuous flow of work. • Supervises radiographers and ancillary personnel assigned to the area. • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure operational viability of the area. • Supervises the delivery of radiological services, in accordance with established standards and procedures, for the service area or unit. • Recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of radiological services. • Participates in the development of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary personnel and allied health care professionals. Demonstrates new or revised techniques, procedures and equipment. • May perform radiologic procedures, as required. • Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography). • Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings. • Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment • Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs. • Performs research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of service. • May be assigned duties and responsibilities of immediate Supervisor in their absence on a temporary basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Assignment Level I 1. Valid temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). Assignment Level II 1. Valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH. Assignment Level III 1. For Supervisory Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. 2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced level certification for the performance of these procedures
Benefits
All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.
