The Prince George's County Office of the State's Attorney is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill vacant Administrative Aide 3 positions, Grade G17, in the Administrative Support Unit. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
About the Position This is highly responsible and advanced secretarial/administrative work designed to relieve an important official of administrative detail. These positions are an advanced support positions that will provide senior level administrative and legal support and assistance to our Administrative Support Units. The incumbent will be responsible for handling and coordinating a variety of complex administrative functions and activities. The individual will perform routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities under the close supervision of the Unit Chief.

The State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is responsible for serving nearly one million residents of Prince George's County. The SAO's legal department is divided into multiple divisions, each of which has jurisdiction over different facets of criminal law. Examples of Work
Handles and coordinates a variety of complex administrative functions and activities within the assigned unit. Prepares subpoenas for witnesses and police officers for court hearings in accordance with established procedures. Prepares legal documents pertaining to the preparation of criminal trial cases. Provides authorized case information accurately. Utilizes computer and all available accesses, pertinent to the operations of the Division, Judicial Dialog (JD), and the Maryland Electronic Courts E-Filing System (MDEC). Performs tasks and duties assigned that may not be listed explicitly in the position description, but are within the general, occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the incumbent's work class.
Qualifications Must have experience in the Administrative Aide II level equal to the length of the probationary period (9 months) Associates degree in Business Administration or Secretarial Science
One (1) year of secretarial/administrative experience which involved working with the public, office management and operational details An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted
Preferred Qualifications :
Comprehensive knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Ability to create and edit various memoranda and business communications.
Ability to maintain a professional image with face-to-face contact with division staff, County Government Officials, vendors, and the public.
Ability to exercise a professional approach and deportment on telephone communications, including routing calls, written correspondence, email, etc., are required.
Ability to take the initiative, use good judgment, exercise independent decision-making, and provide excellent customer service.

Applicants who meet minimum qualifications must take and pass an administered Administrative Aide exam. Please Note - Effective August 1, 2024, a new exam for the role of Administrative Aide was launched and all candidates must complete this exam to be considered for this opportunity. Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after August 1, 2024, and passed, will not be required to re-test. Pass a background investigation conducted by the Prince George's County, Office of Human Resources Management, Public Safety Investigations Division. Must pass a thorough background investigation. Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave if applicable.

General Plan Information: The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent. The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services). New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
